Educators *
Shodor, a non-profit organization based in Durham, has rolled out a
major redesign and upgrade of its award-winning Web site to make it
easier to navigate and explore its freely available resources that

*TeachEngineering Digital Library Aligns 700+ Resources With Educational
Standards in 50 States*
After sustained work and collaboration with JES & Co. and the Center for
Natural Language Processing (Syracuse University), the TeachEngineering
team released a new version of its K-12 engineering collection for which
all 700+ curricular items are aligned to the K-12 math and science
educational standards of all 50 states in October.

*Traffic Report: Visits to NSDL.org increase 132%, Oct 07-Oct 08
*The rise in traffic from October 07 (52,586 visitors) to October 08
(121,773 visitors) represents a 132% year-on-year increase in visits to
NSDL. The increase in traffic was largely due to the addition of the
NSDL landing pages.

Toyota Tapestry Grants for Teachers*
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and the National Science Teachers
Association are pleased to announce the 19th Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for
Science Teachers program. This year, 50 large grants of up to $10,000
each and 20-32 mini-grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded to K-12
teachers of science in the United States.

*Mellon Foundation Funds Fedora Commons and DSpace Initiative "In the
Cloud"*
Over the next six months funding from the Mellon Foundation will allow
the organizations to jointly specify and design "DuraSpace," a new
web-based service that will enable institutions to easily distribute
content to multiple storage providers, both "cloud-based" and
institution-based.
